I’m the founder of Nimble CTO, a fractional CTO consultancy focused on helping companies navigate key strategic inflection points. Whether it’s scaling a technology team, implementing disciplined product and engineering processes, fostering a culture of innovation, evaluating organizational maturity, or building software from the ground up—I step in to provide experienced leadership on a flexible, part-time basis. This model is especially effective for early-stage startups not yet ready for a full-time CTO, or for later-stage companies undergoing transformational growth.
EARLY DAYS
Early Days & Technical Roots
My passion for building software began at 16, writing code on an Apple II+ to solve real business problems. That early spark turned into a lifelong career—spanning client-server applications, cloud-native platforms, mobile apps, AI-based systems, and blockchain technologies, across B2C, B2B, and B2B2C models.
In 1992, I launched The Clarity Group, a self-funded software consulting firm that evolved alongside the rapidly changing tech landscape. We built custom software for clients like Fidelity, State Street Bank, and First National Bank of Chicago, specializing in financial systems such as electronic trading, proxy voting, and portfolio management. In the later part of the decade, we embraced the emerging web and created intranet applications for major insurance companies and Microsoft.
Before founding my own firm, I worked as an electrical engineer at Raytheon in their radar systems lab. There, I developed software to model microwave and antenna component performance—contributing to systems like the Patriot and Aegis missiles, as well as air traffic control infrastructure. It was a deeply technical and rewarding chapter in my journey.
